How do you combat pitching and presenting nerves?

Speaking in public is, for some, the most terrifying experience imaginable. More so when you’re trying to win over an audience of potential backers or clients. Last year’s winner of The Pitch, Nikki Stewart of Diverse Hampers, came across as cool and confident because she’d prepared excellently for her moment in front of the judges.
But aside from the obvious preparation, does anyone have any tips or advice that might help people project that essential air of confidence or simply just calm their nerves when pitching or presenting?
