Just when you thought the number of places you had to keep an eye on for comments about your business couldn't increase, Google goes and allows public comments on search results!

At a conference in the US, Google today unveiled several new features but one which almost slipped through the net unnoticed was spotted by Andrew Mager, a blogger on technology website ZDNet.

The trial move, which is currently only available to selected users, means comments can be made publicly on any search result. Whether or not Google rolls it out to all users remains to be seen but it is a very significant development.

Never before have consumers had a greater power to influence brand perception. Actions such as Google give customers - your customers - the power to say what they think about particular companies instantly and to the world.

More and more networks and communities allowing consumers to express themselves are launching all the time but the big question is, are you there to respond?
