How to create, promote and sell a business in 24 hours

A crazy idea I hear you say. Well no, if this website is to be believed.

At midday today a group of trendy types in London launched 24 Hour Startup and set themselves the challenge of conceiving, designing, building and promoting a web-based business all within a day!

Pretty much the entire ups and downs of business are covered by the project from coming up with an initial idea and creating a business plan to beta testing and launch. They're even attempting to sell the business through a listing on eBay. At the time of writing, the top bid is $201; not bad for a business which doesn't even exist yet!

Looking at the progress so far, the group, from digital ad agency Nonsense and Oxford-based web development company White October, have settled on an idea similar to Etsy.com's 'colour thingy' which allows users to choose products based on colour. Talking about their idea, the team says: "If you want a car from AutoTrader and want it to match your boxer shorts; this site will do that for you." I'm not overally convinced as while Etsy may look nice, the functionality is pretty infuriating but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

The launch party takes place at 12pm on Friday so who knows what they will have achieved by then. Whatever happens though, the concept is a great idea and does show that turning business ideas into reality doesn't need to take many years.
