Night at the museum: Online marketing lessons from Trunkisaurus

Back to blog homepage for: Dan Martin: Editor's Blog

I love a good video, especially when it's created by an inspiring entrepreneurial company. Previous examples include some brilliant films from King of Shaves founder Will King which I've blogged about previously.

The latest video, which I spotted on Twitter today, has been released by one of my favourite companies, Trunki. The creator of the iconic brand of ride-on suitcases for children has unveiled a new range of dinosaur characters.

I've met Rob Law, the founder of Trunki, several times including at the recent London to Bristol event which we helped organise. Rob is a master of marketing and PR and the film below is another great example of that. In a parody of Hollywood hit Night at the Museum, a young security guard discovers that Trunkisaurus is much more than it seems!

There's lots to learn from Trunki's video.

You might not have the production budget to spend on a similar film but you can create a compelling story around your brand. Rather than doing the hard sell, think creatively about how you can promote your products or services. HD quality video cameras are available for under £100 nowadays so video is no longer the preserve of large corporates with hundreds of thousands of pounds to spend on television advertising.

If you have created an inspiring video for your small business, why not post it below.
