After the silliness of yesterday's miracle appearance of Wi-Fi, today is the first real day of giving Win7 a good going over (and not in the East End mob kind of way.) After registering a 90 second boot up, which seemed just about acceptable given the creaking specification of this test laptop, I decided to polish off some of the remaining installations – anti-virus, Flash plug ins, etc.
Anyway, the real test of the operating system comes in the form of Tagetik's conference, held on Thursday and Friday, in Lucca, Tuscany. Tagetik is a high-end enterprise company, so the coverage of the conference will be appearing on BusinessZone's sister sites, Finance Week and MyCustomer. But whilst the actual subject matter is largely irrelevant for BZ'ers, it does provide a good opportunity for me to use the Win7 test laptop over an extended period.
Oh, and according to recently launched 'computational knowledge engine' Wolfram Alpha, 90 seconds is the equivalent of light travelling 16.77 million miles – or a little over 70 journeys from the Earth to the Moon. In case you're wondering, I worked out that little stat using Win7's calculator, which has been redeveloped for this latest Windows incarnation.
Nice.
