Credit crunch; what credit crunch?

It has been difficult over the past year to avoid reports about the credit crunch, economic analysis and commentary forecasting how bad things are going to get. But due to the uncertainty in the market, much of it brought on by the hype itself. As banks went from such free and easy lending to very restrictive lending almost overnight, it's no wonder that panic set in, and while the banks have kept restrictions tight and not even started to pass on the interest rate cuts to customers, there will probably be more suffering than necessary.

Companies Act: New rules in force

Following the introduction of certain provisions of the Companies Act 2006 last year, more sections came into effect on 6 April 2008. Further sections will be introduced from 1 October this year, with the remainder commencing October 2009. Until then, parts of both the Companies Act 1985 (the 1985 Act) and the 2006 Act will be in force.
