So we have arrived. We assembled as instructed after clearing immigration and customs and were whisked away to our small hotel close to the waterfront. After a few hours to unpack and freshen up, missionaries gathered for a briefing and welcome from our hosts. The weather is cold but the welcome was warm. Oli Barrett made the necessary introductions and we quickly got down to exchanging expectations and hopes for the week. A few glasses later and participants were discussing technical challenges, business models, the role of government and schedules for the week. Despite the fact that it was early morning UK time, everyone was pumped up and wanting to make the most of the opportunity.
This morning the weather is overcast and there is a light drizzle but having woken up at 5am (jet lag is a wonderful thing) with a few hours to spare before our peer-to-peer brunch I decided to run along the harbour front passing Pier 39, fisherman’s wharf, with views of Alcatraz to my right, and finally the golden gate bridge….and then back again. Our peer-to-peer brunch will bring together Valley and UK entrepreneurs and representatives of the US Press…..should be interesting!
