Are You Missing a Trick Online?

Back to blog homepage for: Simple Online Marketing

Everyone has their opinion when it comes to what makes a great website.

There are some things which I consider to be a must if you’re serious about turning visitors to your website into customers.

Read on below to find out what these are.

Email signup box

Email subscribers are worth their weight in gold to small businesses. If you don’t run a regular email newsletter, it’s time you started.

There are potential customers out there who are happy to receive information on your products and services, but you have to be able to let them sign up to get it.

Putting an email signup box in a prominent place on every page of your website is a good way to attract people who are interested in what you do. You can then keep in touch through a regular and professional email using a platform such as MailChimp or ConstantContact which will allow you to track your results.

Contact details on every page

Do you have your company contact details on every page of your website or just tucked away on your contact page?

It makes sense to make it as easy as possible for people to contact you. Not everyone will make a decision to buy or contact you at the same point on your website. Don’t make it hard for people to get in touch with you – if you had an offline shop would you hide through the back when there were customers waiting?

It may seem simple, but people are very fickle online and will go to another website if they can’t find what they’re looking for quickly and easily.

Wot no blog?

Many small business owners say they don’t have time to write a blog. Blogs aren’t just for big companies, they’re your chance to communicate with your customers, reach a wider audience and improve your search engine rankings.

If you really don’t have time to write your own blog posts or feel you’re writing skills aren’t up to scratch, hire a copywriter to do it for you.

Even posting one new blog post per week will help keep your website fresh, attract more visitors and boost your presence on Google.

Having fresh content to link to is also useful for any social media sites you’re on such as Twitter or Facebook rather than just retweeting other people’s blog posts all the time.

If you’re missing one or all of these key things from your website – put them right as soon as you can to make sure you’re not missing a trick online.
