The Apprentice is back – albeit shorter with a snottier nose

Back to blog homepage for: The Apprentice blog

For all those Apprentice affectionados who were totally gutted that the latest series has suffered a number of release setbacks (now to be aired in November) you can pacify yourself with a six week Apprentice ‘Yoot’ style programme which kicks off this Wednesday at 9pm on BBC1.

Yes indeed, I will be back following the highs and lows of the 10 wannabe entrepreneurs who are pitted against each other in a bid to win the title of the first Junior Apprentice and a rather tempting £25K.

Of course it will be great to see this bunch of 16 and 17-year-olds vie for Lord Alan Sugar’s praise as well as giving Karren Brady her first outing as 'the new Margaret'. But most exciting are the reports circulating in the press about how Lord Shug has reduced the youngsters to tears as the Finger of Doom falls in the Boardroom.

According to the Sun, a source said: “Some people might have been expecting a kind of CBBC show but it’s not like that at all.

“Alan showed understanding for the teenagers as he knows how tough it is to be in business at that age. But he was never going to be easy on them – and they wouldn’t have wanted him to.”

So we can expect lots of misty-eyed reminiscences from the hard man of business? Will Nick be able to cope without Margaret? Which of the young whippersnappers will make it to my hate list after the first episode? Oh I can hardly wait! Roll on Wednesday...

Catch the blog on Thursday mornings.

Junior Apprentice starts Weds 12 May at 9pm on BBC1 and BBC HD.
