Gerald Ratner, the businessman who became notorious for calling his former company's products "crap", has indicated he could soon be back on the high street.
Speaking exclusively to BusinessZone, the ex-boss of Ratners who is now running internet jewellery firm Geraldonline.com, said: "We will certainly buy a jewellers in the next 18 months without a doubt."
The 57-year-old businessman is best known for a 1991 speech during which he referred to Ratners' £4.95 sherry decanters as "total crap". Profits fell as a result of the comments and investors forced Ratner out.
Last year, the straight talking executive made a bid for his old company, now known as Signet Group. But the £350m offer was rejected because, according to Ratner, they believed he did "not have the ability to come up with the cash".
"That's rubbish," he told BusinessZone, "because the people who wrote the offer letter [Ratner's bank] are about 20 times bigger than them."

We're putting together a list of business owners' must-haves.
