Centre offers boost to wannabe Leeds entrepreneurs

The entrepreneurial ambitions of aspiring company owners in one of Leeds' most deprived areas have been boosted with the opening of a new enterprise centre.

Formally launched today, the Biz Centre in Chapeltown offers facilities and advice to help stimulate the creation of new businesses in the area.

Funded by the £20.6m 'Sharing the Success' Local Enterprise Growth initiative, the scheme is the brainchild of award winning social enterprise Urban Biz.

The new centre provides access to telephones and computers as well as advice from a team experienced in company development. Two business counsellors will support start ups and existing firms looking to grow.

Samuel Mbugua, manager at The Biz Centre, said: "There is so much potential in this area, but many people just don't know what steps to take first.

"Often, people don't even realise that they have had a great business idea, or that they could get it off the ground, and we want to convince those people that they can.
