As you will probably be aware, many of the eyewitness accounts of the recent Mumbai terrorist attacks came via social network Twitter. Well this weekend it has happened again.
Mike Wilson was a passenger on the Continental Airlines plane which after taking off from Denver International Airport on Saturday veered off the runway and crashed. Going under the Twitter username '2drinksbehind' he tweeted his experiences within seconds of the crash. His stream of comments make for fascinating reading.

I'm a big fan of Twitter and I really think it is making a difference not only to way businesses interact with their customers but also to how we receive news.
Twitter and websites like it put the citizen in control and give the people actually involved in the action to report on what they are experiencing. Mike's comments are real, uncensored observations on a momentus event as were the tweets from people on the scene in India when the terrorists struck. The citizen journalist has arrived.
I'm not saying that Twitter is going to completely replace formal news organisations - they are required to filter out the facts and report them to the masses - but the recent use of Twitter to report major international events show everyone now has the ability to be a journalist.
