Google/Twitter acquisition on the cards?

As Twitter continues to dominate the mainstream media's imagination, questions over the micro-blogging site's business model remain. The company secured a third round of funding worth in excess of $35m in February, though its long-term viability remains unclear. However, an article from TechCruch citing two separate sources, suggests Twitter may be in advanced acquisition negotiations with search engine giant, Google.

Neither party has acknowledged the report, which has been updated to suggest talks between the two may cover an alternative partnership about the development of a real-time search engine.
