Creating new business models: Tell David Cameron what YOU think!

David Cameron

We have been approached by the Prime Minister's Office to ask you about your experience of setting up a new business model.

Earlier this year, the government launched the Red Tape Challenge which allows business owners to comment on the legislation which makes it harder to run a successful company. Split into themes, the Challenge is now focusing on innovative business models.

We have created a special forum on our sister community UK Business Forums to allow you to post your comments which will be sent to the Prime Minister's Office.

Launching the theme, David Cameron said: "We're expanding the Red Tape Challenge, so it doesn't just cover the red tape that affects businesses today, but the businesses of tomorrow too. Because we've heard from start-ups that they're innovating so fast, their innovations are out-stripping the regulation that currently exists. At its simplest deregulation has got to be about making it easier to start a business and making it easier to employ people. And I'm determined to do both."

We’re particularly interested to hear:
  • What was your experience of setting up a new business model?
  • What specific problems did you run into?
  • What were the rules and regulations that got in your way?
  • What part of the system held you back?
Post your comments here. If you want to share your experience privately, email redtapechallenge@bis.gov.uk

After 10 weeks of collating your ideas, government officials will work with contributors to translate good ideas into action. And during the process, any specific regulations that are highlighted will be immediately put on probation, and will be scrapped unless the responsible department can justify or satisfactorily modify it.

We will also be running an exclusive live web chat to discuss the ideas on BusinessZone.co.uk in January.
