Michelle Mone, the founder of the internationally successful bra brand Ultimo, has received an OBE in the Queen's New Year's honours.
The Scottish entrepreneur, whose company is valued at around £50m, said she was "absolutely thrilled, honoured and delighted" to receive the gong.
Mone's story is a classic rags-to-riches tale. After growing up in a deprived area of Glasgow and leaving school at 15, the 38-year-old set up MJM International with her husband Michael in 1996 after being made redundant from a sales and marketing job at beer group Labatt.
