Lingerie entrepreneur Michelle Mone awarded OBE

Michelle Mone, the founder of the internationally successful bra brand Ultimo, has received an OBE in the Queen's New Year's honours.

The Scottish entrepreneur, whose company is valued at around £50m, said she was "absolutely thrilled, honoured and delighted" to receive the gong.

Mone's story is a classic rags-to-riches tale. After growing up in a deprived area of Glasgow and leaving school at 15, the 38-year-old set up MJM International with her husband Michael in 1996 after being made redundant from a sales and marketing job at beer group Labatt.
