Pre-Budget Report 2009: Recession-busting business support schemes to be extended

  • Alistair Darling delivers his 2009 Pre-Budget Report on 9 December
  • The economy has contracted more than expected and bank finance is in short supply
  • As a result, several schemes to help businesses through the recession will be extended

The chancellor is to use the forthcoming Pre-Budget Report to extend the life of several schemes aimed at helping small business owners through the recession.

According to The Observer, Alistair Darling will be forced to admit during his speech on 9 December that because the economy has contracted more sharply than expected and with bank finance still in short supply, it is necessary to allow entrepreneurs longer to benefit from several business support initiatives introduced during the past year.
