Social enterprises are twice as confident about future growth and more likely to have increased their turnover during the past year than traditional businesses, new research reveals.
According to the Social Enterprise Coalition (SEC), 48% of entrepreneurs running businesses with a social and environmental purpose said they were optimistic about growth compared to 24% of SMEs. Similarly, more than half of social entrepreneurs have increased turnover during the past 12 months with 24% of non-social enterprises able to say the same.
Released to coincide with social enterprise day, part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the findings showed there are 62,000 social enterprises in the UK contributing £2bn to the UK economy.
