Budget 2010: The tax predictions

The forthcoming Budget offers the government an opportunity to make a powerful statement of intent ahead of the general election. But will Alistair Darling bottle it?

Before the country goes to the polls, chancellor Alistair Darling will deliver his 2010 Budget. If the predictions of a Labour election defeat are to be believed it could be his last. However, as tax experts claim, it needn't be the case if the Budget offers a strong and clear tax agenda which repairs public confidence in the parliamentary system.

Although no official date has yet been given for when the Budget will be delivered, tax experts at Baker Tilly have set forward their predictions for what it could contain.
