James Caan appointed chairman of The Big Issue

  • The Big Issue was founded by John Bird and Gordon Roddick in 1981
  • In 2008, The Big Issue generated £8m for its vendors, all of whom are homeless

Dragons' Den star James Caan is to become chairman of The Big Issue, the magazine which supports and raises money for homeless people.

The entrepreneur is to join the publication to help increase its online exposure and stimulate corporate giving through subscriptions and donations to The Big Issue Foundation. The magazine, which is sold on streets across the UK by the homeless, last year generated £8m for its vendors.
