Facebook publishes 'How to' business guide

Facebook has launched a section for small businesses, describing how to use the social network to help promote their company.
As well as providing a basic step-by-step guide on how to create a Facebook Page, the site also explains how businesses can take advantage of various promotional elements, such as Facebook ads, ‘Supported Stories’, and custom plug-ins and applications.
Some of the tips for businesses given by the guide include:
- Give people a reason to check your Page often, and provide rich content for them to interact with and share. These organic actions that people take with your Page create powerful stories that drive word of mouth for your business.
- Responding to Wall posts from your customers and updating your Page on a timely basis allows you to keep in touch with customers just as you would when they're visiting your physical store location.
- Update your Page at times when fans are most engaged, and encourage participation with weekly features and other regular content that receive the most comments.
The guide’s launch comes in the same week as research revealed Facebook to be the top social network for driving web traffic to the UK’s fastest moving SMEs, with a 12% share of the market, far above both YouTube (2.8%) and micro-blogging site, Twitter (0.39%).
BusinessZone.co.uk has extensively covered the use of social media by small businesses, and how networks including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, can help benefit entrepreneurs.
