Richard Edgar was appointed as the head of video for the FT in August 2007 and is responsible for developing the FT’s popular video section. Under his stewardship the FT is now publishing over 180 videos and registering 1.8 million views every month. Edgar has over a decade of top-flight journalism experience across all platforms including print, online and broadcast. He joined the FT from Reuters Video where he was editor in charge for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Redesigned and re-launched this summer, the BBC News website introduced more social media links, and increased prominence of broadcast media content among a cleaner look. Naturally, there were still some moans about the new format, but nothing to put editor Steve Hermann off his stride. After all, 15 million unique users every week can't be wrong. Given the BBC's global reputation as a news provider, keeping audiences engaged is the aim and Steve reveals how the editorial team of BBC News online does just that.

Steve Herrmann is Editor of the multiple award-winning BBC News website (bbc.co.uk/news), a role he has held since January 2006. As Editor, he is in charge of BBC News editorial coverage online and oversees operations across the website and other on demand services.  Before becoming Editor, Steve was World Editor of the site for five years.
