Charlie Mullins, the founder of Pimlico Plumbers, has warned he will move his business out of the UK if the government increases income tax for the UK's highest earners.
As Alistair Darling prepares to deliver his 2009 Pre-Budget Report, it has been suggested that following the introduction of a 50p income tax rate for those earning over £150,000 in April's Budget, the government is considering introducing a 60p tax rate for those earning in excess of £500,000.
Mullins said such an action would force him out of the country. "It could well be goodbye Pimlico Plumbers, hola Puerto Banus Plumbers," he claimed. "And I don't think I'd be the only one skipping out on UK plc. If this sort of thing keeps up it's going to be the 1970s all over again, and I don't think anybody wants a re-run of that decade.
