National Insurance holiday for start-ups begins

Entrepreneurs running a new business outside of London, the South East and Eastern England will from today not have to pay National Insurance contributions for their first 10 employees.

The scheme was unveiled by chancellor George Osborne during the coalition's Emergency Budget. It is aimed at benefited small businesses in deprived areas hit the hardest by public sector cuts.

The initiative runs from today (6 September 2010) until 5 September 2013. Certain criteria must be met which is outlined below.
