Business software vendors are being encouraged to enter an award scheme which represents one of the UK's largest independent business opinion research projects.

Organised by BusinessZone.co.uk publisher Sift Media, the Software Satisfaction Awards, now in their 6th year, reward excellence in the software sector, with voting based on the views of end users from Sift Media's audience of 600,000 business professionals and those of a panel of expert judges.

This year, the awards have also entered into a partnership with technology trade association Intellect which extends the reach to the organisation's 780 member companies.

The Software Satisfaction Awards retains many of the original categories but also includes new growth areas including geo-location, project management, security and talent management.

Tom Dunkerley, Sift Media managing director, said: "We've always been keen to ensure these awards have credibility in the market and by partnering with Intellect we can provide the software sector with valued insight into user satisfaction.

"In 2010 we received over 6,500 completed surveys from users of software products. In 2011 we'll be aiming to increase this to 10,000+, making it one of the largest business surveys in the UK."

Charles Ward, COO of Intellect, added: "Intellect is delighted to support these exciting awards. The software industry is vital to the UK economy and Intellect plays a leading role in supporting these businesses.

These awards recognise and reward excellence in this sector and provide a guide for organisations that are looking to purchase new software applications."

Software vendors can enter by 28 March 2011 on the Software Satisfaction Awards website. Software users will be able to vote from 18 April.
