Former Dragons' Den judge Doug Richard discusses a new scheme to help more than 3,000 entrepreneurs grow their business on the internet and export overseas.

Backed by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and Yell, Web Fuelled Business has been set up following research by the Downing Street behavioural insight team showing that small companies are discouraged from exporting because of "soft" barriers to trade such as lack of confidence and social links.

It also found that firms could significantly boost overseas sales by enhancing their online presence.

The initiative, made up of 12 free workshops across England, kicks off in Manchester on 12 January 2012.

In the exclusive interview below, Doug Richard, founder of School for Startups and former judge on BBC TV's Dragons' Den, discusses the scheme.
