As part of the government's Digital Britain announcement, entrepreneur and Lastminute.com co-founder Martha Lane Fox has been appointment as the UK's first digital champion. Lane Fox, who started the travel website with Brent Hoberman in the 1990s, has been tasked with encouraging households not currently online to take up broadband packages. In particular, the elderly and those with disabilities and low income families will be targeted.
