The shortlist has been announced for the 2010 Software Satisfaction Awards, organised by BusinessZone.co.uk publisher Sift Media, following one of the UK’s largest independent business opinion research projects.

Over 6,900 users completed the detailed online survey, whittling down the list of contenders to 61 individual products, representing 41 companies across 14 categories. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 7 October. The full shortlist is here.

This year's end user survey was far more detailed than previous years, enabling Sift Media to create a series of unique benchmarking reports for each individual shortlisted entrant, comprising valuable feedback and compared against the performance of fellow nominees.

Tom Dunkerley, Sift Media managing director, said: "Congratulations to all the Software Satisfaction Awards finalists. I'm extremely pleased with the results of our improved user survey and the impressive response it’s received.

"This comprehensive data will enable us to deliver fantastic insight into the state of the business software market, providing direct measures of user satisfaction and benchmarking performances across the industry.

"And this year for the first time, I’m looking forward to welcoming survey participants (customers) of the shortlisted companies to the Awards evening on the 7 October, adding another dimension to the evening.”

This year's awards are again endorsed by the Business Application Software Developers Association (BASDA). BASDA's director general, Jairo Rojas, said: "We're extremely pleased to be supporting the Software Satisfaction Awards for the fifth year.

"The improvements made to the judging process this year are certain to throw the competition wide open and ensure that the results focus on the factors that really matter to the people making decisions about business software purchases."

The shortlisted finalists will now be asked to submit a written document for consideration by the judging panel comprising experts from across the industry. They will be judged on their product development, future product roadmap and a customer case study.
