Sweeping EU data protection reforms 'huge burden' for small firms
The European Commission has outlined reforms of data protection laws that could see firms fined up to 2% of their global turnover if they fail to comply.
Under the proposals, users would have the "right to be forgotten" and the ability force companies to delete information if there is no "legitimate" reason why the firm should keep their personal data.
In addition, companies would also be required to report data breaches "as soon as possible".
