On 16 November, Global Entrepreneurship Week will begin and the world will celebrate what you do - running a business. As part of the celebrations, we are organising The Pitch 2009 Final and Conference which will be one the UK's biggest free events during the seven day initiative. Here's why we highly recommend that you join us.
1. Be among the first to find out about the UK's newest business talent
This summer we travelled around Britain to track down some of the country's most innovative new entrepreneurs. Some 30 business owners in five cities presented in front of 22 judges. It was a tough decision but five lucky entrepreneurs have been chosen and alongside a wildcard finalist selected by the BusinessZone.co.uk community will compete live on stage for the chance to win £50,000 worth of business support prizes. You can watch that happen.
2. Learn from some of the biggest names in British enterprise
We've secured the participation of some high profile entrepreneurial figures at the event. Among them are Doug Richard, former Dragons' Den panellist and founder of School for Start-ups, Tim Campbell, winner of The Apprentice 2005 and founder of the Bright Ideas Trust and Charlie Mullins, founder of Pimlico Plumbers and star of Channel 4's The Secret Millionaire; all of whom will judge The Pitch finalists. Other entrepreneurs will also be on hand to share the secrets of their business success including Karen Darby, serial entrepreneur and founder of Simply Switch and Call Britannia and social entrepreneur Oli Barrett who will lead a mass speednetworking session.
3. Receive practical advice from knowledgeable experts
During table workshops at the event you'll be able to access advice on all sorts of business subjects. Led by organisations including The Next Women, Business Link, Institute of Directors, Yell and eOffice, you'll gain valuable - and free - advice which you can apply to your business the very next day.
4. Learn how to improve your pitch
At some point in your business life, it's highly likely you'll have to present your business to investors. Whether it's an appearance on Dragons' Den or a presentation not watched by millions of television viewers, Bill Morrow, co-founder of Angels Den - a network which connects entrepreneurs and angels investors - will, during an entertaining but highly informative live session, give you the inside track on how to nail your pitch.
