So, you’ve finally launched your startup and need a plan to promote it online. What’s next? What are the options you can choose from to make this endeavour a success? Lots of newly created companies decide to advertise their products and services at specialized startup platforms and in social networks.

These options may be quite effective, granted that your business is not large and you don’t have long-term objectives that require serious approach. If you do, then these options are not enough to give your startup quick start. In this case, it makes sense to launch a startup website that will contribute to its popularity and further development. Here are the major reasons that speak in favor of building a startup website:

  • It helps grow your customer base
  • It makes it possible to encourage users to find out more about your company
  • It showcases your ideas in the global network and allows you to approach the target audience
  • It is a great marketing tool that cannot be compared to other available options in terms of efficacy and customer demand
  • It increases your company's visibility and keeps your clients aware of the current changes and updates
  • It helps grow the amount of sales and contributes to profit generation
  • It makes your business accessible 24/7 and boosts customer satisfaction

These reasons are more than enough to understand the importance of startup website creation. However, this process is far more complicated than you could initially think and this is what deceives lots of startup owners, who create their own websites and don’t know what to do with them further.

Many startups go bankrupt because of the typical mistakes their owners make. These mistakes can become fatal for the further startup development if not noticed and prevented on time. Let’s analyze some of these mistakes now to avoid them in future.

1. Underestimating the Importance of a Domain

A domain is what makes your startup noticed on the web when a user gets on your website for the first time. If it is too long, complicated or cannot be memorized right from the start, you run a risk that users won’t be encouraged to visit your website over and over again.

If a domain is catchy and easy-to-remember, it will contribute to the credibility of your startup, making it in demand with existing and potential users. To get the right domain, take your time to shop around to select the one that reflects your business individuality.

2.  Poor Content

Many startup websites end up facing lots of problems because of the poor content. This notion is quite vague and includes a broad range of problems like poor and inadequate word selection, lots of errors, lack of uniqueness and abundance of promo content that makes a website not interesting, unattractive and dull. These problems should be fixed the sooner - the better prior to making your website a huge disappointment to your visitors.

3. Abundance of Call-to-Action Incentives

What is your reaction when you browse through a website and notice multiple incentives to buy something, for example? You, probably, decide to abandon a website and keep looking for a more user-friendly resource. That's quite natural. No one likes feeling pressure, so, don’t go overboard when adding call-to-action elements to your startup website. It’s quite obvious that you wish to be noticed, but being too harsh won’t bring you the desired result. A properly optimized landing page is necessary.

4. Absence of Responsive Design

We live in the era of advanced technologies, with so many mobile devices available out there. People use them wherever they are and whenever they wish to solve their personal and business problems.

Thus, your startup website should be built by using responsive design templates to be viewable on different devices, irrespective of their screen sizes or resolutions. Today, it is much simpler to use responsive templates when working with website builders like uKit. This web building platform was once launched as a startup as well and has now developed into a successful project, which has been recognized by Superbwebsitebuilders as the most convenient and simple website builder for newbies.

5. Poor Typography

Typography affects your startup website success more than you could imagine. In some cases, it may even make or break the entire design of your website. This especially becomes obvious, when it comes to the contrast between the headlines and the texts. It goes without saying that the choice of proper font combinations can be a daunting task, but if you do everything right, the result won’t keep it waiting. So, go ahead and experiment with fonts, color combinations, and other typography elements to give your startup website decent visual appeal.

6. Overuse of Dark Colors

Overuse of dark colors at the website creates a negative impression, especially when it comes to the background color palette. The thing is that the color of a background occupies the prevailing amount of a web page and if you overlook proper color combinations, domination of dark colors may look depressing. Web design experts recommend using light colors with the domination of gray and white.

7. Inconsistent Website Design

Your website design should be consistent and thoroughly thought over in all respects. Whether you are thinking of color combinations, content presentation, website structure,  font selection, brand recognition etc., everything should be logical not to spoil the first impression. Keeping your website design properly organized and well-structured is a smart choice that can eventually make your startup recognizable and popular with users.

Bottom Line

Startup launch is a responsible, complicated and serious endeavour that should be taken seriously. The way you approach web site creation process has a notable effect on the success of the resource and your company in general. It’s inadmissible to start working on a project without analyzing all the nuances and making up a detailed plan. Otherwise, you can face lots of problems that will bring all your ideas and plans to naught.

Prior to starting work on your startup website, take your time to think about its structure, model, and design. It is also crucial to test its usability to make sure your clients will be left satisfied with the result. No matter how much effort, time and money you invest into the project, it will pay off with the time and you won’t feel shy about it. This is what should really matter for every startup owner.

Well if you are a web-designer, you need to know the basics of building a good website and the common mistakes to avoid.

Other mistakes you need to avoid:
1.Your website has no headline.
2.Your site has an unbelievable headline.
3.Walls of text obscure your overall message.
4.Poor navigation and menus.
5.Annoying or poorly-timed pop-ups.

It's also depends on which website builder you are using as I'm using website builder TemplateToaster, which helps me in recognizing all the mistakes that may hurt my website in advance. Rest depends upon your talents.

In 2016, content management systems (CMS) like WordPress have made creating a website accessible to everyone.

To put simply, a content management system (or website building platform) is a user-friendly platform for building websites and managing your own online content, instead of using a bunch of loose HTML pages.
